The Magic of the Postcard…

…ahhh, the romance of the postcard. They are a hug from afar, now quite rare. Well worn, and sometimes bearing an exotic stamp, I have purchased some of the same images, 25 years apart. They are like friends and loved ones, staying in touch. A moment in time, that you put up at work, or the fridge at home. It’s like sharing a dream.
I grew up writing postcards to family and friends. Those days I was only half the height of the rotating postcard stand so my selection was limited. Then came the process of finding the prettiest stamp I could find. This is a wonderful adventure in a strange land, involving expressions like ” plus beau’ or “pui Bella”.
This collection of drawings recount some of my favourite places. I drew them on location, trying to capture a moment.  Some  were started in 1976, some this year. I have embellished them with stamps from different eras. They are pen and ink and watercolour originals, approx. the same size as a generous postcard. They are sent to you well packaged, and with a single rag mat. They fit existing 11 x 14” or 12  x 16” frames.  Fees are $200, plus HST.(I can send them to you, this includes packaging) No copies made .
Do feel free to come to my studio and see them.(please call first to arrange appt.)

Celebrating anniversaries and special events, February 2012

I am pleased to be celebrating my 30th year in business. Making a living by the pen and brush has been exhilarating, fulfilling and downright adventurous. I have hung off the top of towers to get reference photos, paddled around in stormy seas and braved raging bulls. I think I’ve experienced 5 recessions, so far. I’ve met a lot of interesting people, you.

I have had the pleasure of helping other companies celebrate their anniversaries, and special events. I create a specific and exclusive image, under the client’s guidance. The resulting artwork and scan is used for VIP prints, brochures, ads, websites, etc. They can always be designed allowing for easy modification on future applications. I produce the prints: signed, numbered and framed.

Please see the samples below, and contact me, so I may show you my relevant portfolio. Thank you and best wishes.

Welcome to Christmas and my latest offerings.

Welcome to Christmas and my latest offerings – I hope you enjoy it.

I do love Christmas. The fun, frivolity and family. The panic, spills and losses. We give ’10 times the points’ for homemade gifts and cards, as opposed to store-bought. We treasure the silly games, sleepy children and too much good food. The friends and Christmas cards with notes.

It is truly a time to reflect, rejoice and be very, very thankful.
Merry Christmas to you all, and the very best of good health and happiness
for 2012.

All prices include first class shipping and handling. You can also visit my studio and review 40 other Vancouver scenes also available. Call first, 604. 685. 2525 and I’ll have the expresso machine on.

Welcome to my first blog of 2011, and I hope you enjoy your visit.

I invite you to review the latest series of my pen and ink and watercolour originals, produced on location during my visits to Italy. I have attempted to capture some of the incredible warmth, charm and historic depth of this romantic country.

Each drawing and painting was created on 100% rag paper content, with a single mat on top, approximately 2” to 3” wide. No prints will be made from this series.

Check out the prices which include first class shipping and handling. You can also visit my studio and review the work. Call first, 604. 685. 2525 and we’ll have the Expresso machine on.
